You Are What You Eat has been The Nutrition Company's flagship program for classroom diet analysis for 28 years! No other nutrient analysis program has been as widely used. In this 7th edition, You Are What You Eat has been remodeled in the style and flow of FoodWorks. The database contains over 13,000 foods! The analysis includes 26 nutrients. And it features a variety of printouts, including the standard report that has been You Are What You Eat's most endearing feature. The user interface is the common "web-like" format that will be familiar to today's internet-savvy students.
You Are What You Eat will enhance traditional classroom instruction by providing students with practical, "hands-on" diet analysis experiences. It is designed to accompany secondary level textbooks from most publishers.
This popular program rapidly analyzes meals, diets, and recipes for 26 nutrients including calories, carbohydrate, fat, protein, cholesterol, vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin C, iron, calcium, and sodium. It compares food intake to the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI), reports dietary strengths and describes how to improve weaknesses in the diet. Foods are selected by name using on-screen menus. The data base includes fast foods, name brand cereals, soft drinks, candies, and snacks. The printouts include sources of sodium and cholesterol, ideas for improving the diet, a bar graph comparing the diet to the DRI, and much more. Printouts are similar in format to those produced by FoodWorks.
In addition, You Are What You Eat includes an Energy Expenditure analysis that allows students to track the calories they burn based on the activities they perform in a 24-hour period. See how your body is using the calories you consume. You can also analyze a recipe and make a Nutrition Facts food label to show how nutritious it is.
